St. Paul Lutheran Church believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God, that it is without error, the source of all Christian teaching, and that all doctrines can be judged according to their conformity with Scripture.
We believe that all people are affected by sin and its consequences, and that all people sin. Not only does sin bring great pain into the world, but sin separates us from a loving God. Sin's consequences on our eternal lives are also most tragic; 'For the wages of sin is death...' (Romans 6:23a)
We also believe that Jesus Christ came into this world to be our Savior. As true man and true God, Jesus lived a sinless life, suffered, and died on the cross in order to take the punishment of hell in our place. Jesus died and on the third day, He rose from the dead in victory over sin, death and Satan.
Therefore, God forgives us for all our sins, restores our relationship with Him, and gives us eternal life. We can believe this because God sends us the Holy Spirit through His Word and the sacraments. The Holy Spirit calls us to faith and empowers us to live for God and remain faithful to Him as we face each day until He calls us to life with Him in heaven. '...but the gift of God is eternal life.' (Romans 6:23b)
